Universal Studios Singapore

March 17, 2010

You know, that unique place in Sentosa, where they spent Billions of dollars just so that we could have what Hollywood, Orlando, Japan, Dubai and probably Korea might have?

Isn’t it great that it’s finally opened?

Ahhh, all those replicated monuments, the roller coaster rides that gets you nowhere, and what’s not to love about the larger than life characters on display?

Did you knew that the original ‘theme park’-like theme was opened to allow visitors to get a glimpse of how movie studios actually work and in a way to introduce young visitors who’ll eventually get awed and absorb all the wondrous sights and hopefully one day join the creative force and start animating?

Hollywood, Korea, and Japan probably have a case since those countries have a really big market for movies/animations.

I don’t know what Dubai has but I do have a tiny hunch that it’s betting on a similar table with my tiny country.

You know, I don’t think these young Singapore kids are going to go into the animation line anytime soon after visiting these parks, nor did their parents bring them there for lunch or dinner that could probably feed a few families with roti pratas, whereby this feeding of pratas could even last for weeks.

‘Cos these kids, they’ll do the traditional paper-chase thingy, climb a corporate ladder and then, I bet *rolls-eyes* that they’ll be more inclined to visit the casino (or 4D outlets) more often than a production studio, or buying pratas for the needy.

Yep, it’s all about the casino.

Ka-Ching!
